artsy fartsy

One of the most surprising things to me about being out in North Adams a few weeks ago was how artsy the community was. There were murals and sculptures everywhere - even their bus stops were art installations from the Mass Museum of Contemporary Art.

On the last day of our trip we headed to the museum to check out all of the exhibits. One of my favorites was one of their more permanent exhibits that featured 3 floors of “Sol LeWitt: A Wall Drawing Retrospective.”

It was full of large scale wall drawings that depicted every shape, color, and medium you could think of. The one above was created solely by the use of pencils and painters tape. They just scribbled on the wall over and over again until the gradient was just right.
